LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) - High pressure continues to remain in charge and that is keeping our weather nice and quiet.

A few clouds are possible heading into our Sunday morning along with a few patches of fog.

Temperatures are heading back into the middle and upper 50s across the board for Sunday morning, so you may want to grab a light jacket or sweater.

Sunshine will be abundant once again heading into Sunday afternoon as we climb back into the upper 70s to near 80°.

Winds are slowly returning to the east and southeasterly direction as we move through the first half of the week and that will mean slightly warmer temperatures during the overnight period.

Lows will be back into the lower 60s through the middle half of the week as we transition from mostly sunny skies to partly cloudy conditions.

Highs will stay steady throughout the week with most areas back into the lower and middle 80s.

Rain chances are still remaining low though for much of the week, until we look ahead to the weekend and into Halloween.

For those with trick-or-treating plans you may have to have a rain jacket or umbrella handy as showers look a little more likely.

There is still some disagreement with models on the exact coverage of rainfall and the totals, but at least compared to the last few weeks, it does look like better rain coverage.

Based on the current data, it looks like the best chance comes as we head into Friday evening and Saturday with breaks at times, so it won’t be a total washout.

Rain chances look to diminish as we head into Sunday and early next week as drier air pushes in.

Most areas are still running 16 inches below average in terms of rainfall, with rain totals right now looking to be around a quarter to half inch.
