State trooper accused of domestic abuse after alleged victim hospitalized with serious injuries
LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) - A Louisiana state trooper is facing a domestic abuse charge after an incident that left his alleged victim hospitalized.
Joshua A. Duhon, 43, resigned from Louisiana State Police Troop D on Wednesday, state officials said.
Deputies received an anonymous report of domestic abuse on April 24, Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Kayla Vincent said. Deputies said an argument between Duhon and the victim led to the incident.
The victim was admitted to a hospital with serious injuries, Vincent said.
An arrest warrant was issued for Duhon on May 8, which led to him turning himself in to the Sheriff’s Office.
He was booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center for domestic abuse that resulted in serious bodily injury. Judge Tony Fazzio has ordered that Duhon be held without bond.
“Upon learning of the ongoing investigation, former LSP Sergeant Duhon was placed on administrative leave, and all law enforcement property was recovered by Troop D supervisors,” Col. Robert Hodges, state police superintendent, said in a statement. “The Louisiana State Police holds all who serve within our agency, and the broader public safety profession, to a high standard of professionalism and accountability. Duhon submitted his letter of intent to resign from the Louisiana State Police effective May 7, 2025.”
