First Alert Forecast: Slow return in humidity through the week, leads to a few rain chances by the weekend
Meteorologist Jacob Durham is tracking the return of rain chances, that could impact your trick-or-treating forecast.
LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) - A few clouds are passing by this morning and through the afternoon, but we are staying quiet with limited rain chances for now.

Temperatures are off to a cooler start this morning once again, so you may want the light jacket or coat as you step out the door.
Thankfully, we are warming into the afternoon with highs back into the lower 80s into the afternoon with a mixture of sun and clouds.

Humidity is remaining low for now as well, but a slight shift in wind from the south and east will help to bring back some milder mornings by mid-week.
It won’t be deep tropical moisture by any stretch, but it will be enough to boost our overnight temperatures into the lower 60s through the end of the week.

Sunshine will continue to be a big story for the afternoons as highs are staying in the middle 80s through Thursday and Friday.
One thing we are watching is cloud cover to increase and a slow return in a few rain chances as well.

A weak cold front has its eyes set on SWLA heading into the weekend and that will be something we have to watch closely for the kids setting out to trick-or-treat.
Right now, the better chance of rain looks to come in late Friday into Saturday, but models are still not in great agreement on timing or the overall coverage.

Rain totals are looking fairly light as well with a quarter to half inch rain possible across the region, with a few locally higher totals possible.
We may end up seeing the front stall just to our west before pushing through into early next week as a stronger front arrives.

If that continues to be the trend we are seeing, chances for a spotty to isolated shower and downpour will remain through the first half of next week.
Our deficit on the year is now closer to 16 1/2 inches below average and will likely grow some more before rain chances arrive.

The tropics thankfully are staying quiet with no development expected over the next 7 days and with the cold fronts pushing through, hopefully it will help to keep a quiet stretch around to end the hurricane season.

Make sure to have the KPLC First Alert Weather App handy with the rain chances on the way for Halloween, but at this point it doesn’t look to be a washout.
