One dead in Iowa shooting; law enforcement searching neighborhood for person of interest

IOWA, La. (KPLC) - Law enforcement is searching an Iowa neighborhood after a shooting left one man dead this morning on South Bowers Avenue.

Iowa Police responded to a call just before 10 a.m. on Thursday of a man found dead in a ditch.

According to Calcasieu Parish Sheriff Stitch Guillory, deputies have a person of interest and ask anyone involved to come forward with information.

The investigation is in the early stages, and Iowa police officers and Calcasieu sheriff’s deputies remain on scene near the intersection with West First Street.

A KPLC reporter at the scene said police were surrounding a home and ordering someone to come outside. Officers entered the home with guns drawn but came out without a suspect.

There is no word yet if anyone has been injured.
