Dixie Pipeline has capped the line, but there is still eight-and-a-half miles of pipeline left to "bleed out," said Houston River Road Fire Chief Dean Lappe.

The fire has been contained.

La. 27 was open in both directions, but Jim Pickens Road and Lewis Street were closed to traffic.

Lappe advised the public to stay away from the area.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
