Freedom Trucks bring American history to communities ahead of 250th birthday

WASHINGTON (Gray DC) - An exhibit is making its way across the country, guiding visitors through the founding of the nation ahead of America’s 250th birthday. The attraction arrives on 18 wheels.

A fleet of six mobile museums called “Freedom Trucks” is bringing history museums to people unable to travel to the National Mall. Visitors can learn about important moments that helped shaped the nation including the signing of the Declaration of the Independence and the and the ratification of the U.S. Constitution.

“There’s something unmistakably American about a truck on 18 wheels,” said Keith Krach, Freedom 250 CEO.

The trucks first launched in January and recently made a stop in Washington to showcase the exhibit. They will visit all 48 contiguous states through December.

Through displays and interactive exhibits, visitors can experience moments leading up to American independence.

“Touchscreens and the history, George Washington is actually speaking to you,” said Monica Crowley, U.S. Chief Protocol Officer.

“What these trucks carry is not just history. They carry responsibility,” Krach said.

The experience targets those unable to travel to museums.

“We know that many students don’t have the chance to come here to Washington, DC. So we want to be able to bring American history to them,” said Brittany Baldwin, White House Task Force 250 Executive Director.
