Caught on Camera: Deputies respond to U.S. 90 crash after dining at restaurant
SULPHUR, La. (KPLC) - Three Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a crash on U.S. 90 just after having a meal at a nearby restaurant.
Carlos Ibarra, Rosita’s manager, said the intersection has seen multiple crashes.
“This intersection right here, there’s always been crashes every single year man, four, five, six crashes,” Ibarra said.
Sheriff Stitch Guillory said the deputies finished eating and were visiting with the restaurant owner when they heard the crash outside.
“Without hesitation, they did what they are trained to do and immediately responded to help,” Guillory said.
Guillory said the deputies declined interview requests, saying they don’t feel they deserve special recognition for doing their job.
“That mindset speaks volumes about the men and women here at the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office,” Guillory said. “If you looked across our agency, I think you will find nearly all the deputies have the same opinion, they don’t look for the spotlight or special attention. Instead they are just here, showing up each day to serve others. They don’t do this job for recognition; they do it for our community.”
According to Sulphur Police, two men involved in the crash were transported to the hospital. Police don’t believe alcohol was involved. The investigation is ongoing.
