Space heater suspected in deadly Vernon Parish fire, sheriff says

VERNON PARISH, La. (KPLC) - Officials suspect that a space heater caused a fire that claimed a life in Vernon Parish Monday.

“We had a house fire here yesterday and lost a gentleman who I knew very well,” Sheriff Sam Craft said while discussing the parish’s winter storm response with us over the air.

Craft urges everyone to use caution when heating their homes during this frigid weather.
