Elementary school child dies after collapsing at 'Fun Day' events
CALCASIEU PARISH, LA (KPLC) - A child died Thursday morning after collapsing at school, a Calcasieu School Board official said.
The child collapsed during Fun Day events, said Holly Holland, spokeswoman.
"The child was immediately attended to by school personnel including nurses. A 911 call was placed, and the student was transported by ambulance to Lake Charles Memorial Hospital where the student later passed away," she said. "In this time of great loss, we ask that the thoughts and prayers of all of Calcasieu Parish be with the child's family and with the students, faculty, and staff of T.S. Cooley Elementary."
School board officials are not releasing the child's identity, citing student privacy laws.
