Man found dead in Calcasieu River

LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) - A Lake Charles man was found floating dead in the Calcasieu River Tuesday, authorities said.
Clevence Lee Deshotel, 57, of Lake Charles, was found "unresponsive in the water" not far from his houseboat, said Kim Myers, Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office spokeswoman.
Deputies got the call around noon about a possible drowning near Goos Ferry Road. The sheriff's office marine division recovered Deshotel's body and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
"Foul play is not suspected at this time. The drowning appears to be accidental but the investigation is continuing pending the Calcasieu Coroner's examination," Myers said in a news release.
