A larger than normal flare at an area chemical plant caused concern for nearby residents Saturday night. These picture were sent in by a viewer.
The flame appears to be coming from Sasol's Westlake facility. Witnesses on the scene tell us the flare was unusually larger than normal and was followed by a heavy plume of smoke.
At this time, it appears to have been just larger than normal flaring. We've checked into it, but have not heard of an emergency situation.
