Large fire prompts evacuation at Howard Industries

LAUREL, Miss. (WDAM) - UPDATE: 8:00 P.M.

Crews have mostly contained the fire.

PREVIOUS COVERAGE:

All employees at the Howard Industries location in Laurel have been evacuated due to a massive fire on the site.

An all-call has been put out to fire departments in the county. Multiple departments are already on scene working to contain the fire.

According to Mayor Magee, a paint booth caught fire next to a tanker truck carrying an explosive substance.

Please avoid the area to allow first responders room to work. Heavy traffic near the scene slows the response rate and puts employees and first responders in danger.

WDAM 7 has a reporter en route to the scene. We have no further information at this time, but will continue to update this story as it becomes available.
