Jennings locals lined up overnight for the Grand Opening of KFC

JENNINGS, LA (KPLC) - Jennings residents lined up overnight in hopes of being one of the first 50 people in line at the city's new Kentucky Fried Chicken, or KFC.

The first 50 people in line received a voucher for one free meal a week, for an entire year.

The Director of New Store Openings, Lori Byers, has been anticipating the event for some time.

"We're just excited to get into those doors and get these people served some fried chicken," said Byers.

The turnout was a pleasant surprise for Jennings' Mayor Henry Guinn. He believes the opening of KFC confirms growth in the city of Jennings has only just begun.

"It's a great feeling because I know we're going in the right direction the more business that we can have and the more participation that we can have for these businesses," said Guinn, "It means a lop, it really does."

The Jennings location can be found on 1498 Elton Road.

Jennings isn't the only city in Southwest Louisiana that will be gaining the fried chicken food chain.

KFC is coming to the following locations:

  • Crowley
  • Leesville
  • DeRidder
  • Lafayette (2)
  • Lake Charles (2)
  • Abbeville
  • Sulphur
