Bicyclist struck, killed by 18-wheeler in hit-and-run

RAPIDES PARISH, LA (KPLC) - A bicyclist was killed on August 8, 2018, when he was struck by an 18-wheeler, says M/T Daniel Moreau, Louisiana State Police spokesman.
Louisiana State Police responded to a crash on August 8, 2018, on LA Highway 28 West at the Rapides/Vernon line.
The crash involved an 18-wheeler driven by Barney L. Adams, 57, who struck David Guerrero, 72, who was riding his bicycle on the eastbound shoulder lane.
The 18-wheeler was traveling eastbound on the highway when Adams lost control and drifted into the shoulder lane colliding with the bicycle.
Troopers report that Adams did not stop at the scene and was located several miles from the crash location.
Adams was arrested on one count of hit-and-run involving a fatal injury, negligent homicide, and careless operation. He has been booked into the Rapides Parish Jail where toxicology tests are pending.
Guerrero was transported to Rapides Regional Trauma Center where he was later pronounced dead.
