Two film legends honored at Austin Film Festival

(KPLC) - Groundbreaking comedian Keenen Ivory Wayans and legendary writer Walter Hill received lifetime achievement awards at 24th annual Austin Film Festival.

Wayans and Hill received the festival's Extraordinary Contribution to Film Award.

For over 40 years, Walter Hill has served as writer, director, and producer for a variety of films. In addition to co-producing the blockbuster Alien, Hill wrote and directed notable films including 48 Hrs., The Warriors, The Driver, Last Man Standing and Geronimo.

Keenen Ivory Wayans created, launched and hosted the 1990 variety series In Living Color. The Emmy-winning series introduced the public to now-famous actors, musicians, and comedians including Damon Wayans, Jamie Foxx, Jim Carrey, and Jennifer Lopez.

Hill and Wayans were both on hand in Austin to receive their award during the festival, which took place between Oct. 26 and Nov. 2.
