Arrest made in N. Perkins Ferry Road shooting

MOSS BLUFF, LA (KPLC) - A 17-year-old has been arrested and two others are in custody in connection with a shooting on N. Perkins Ferry Road Wednesday morning.

Austin Jones, of Moss Bluff, turned himself into the detectives division at 1 p.m. He is charged with attempted first-degree murder, armed robbery and armed robbery with the use of a firearm.  His bond is still pending.

Deputies are active questioning two possible suspects, said Commander James McGee, with the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office.

A lockdown has been lifted for Sam Houston, Moss Bluff Middle, Moss Bluff Elementary and Gillis Elementary, Calcasieu School Board spokeswoman Holly Holland said.

The Calcasieu Sheriff's Office started a search for three men following the shooting on North Perkins Ferry Road, near Joe Miller Road.

Deputies responded to a burglary in progress at 9:40 a.m. Three men forced their way into a home, demanded money and shot someone, McGee said. The suspects fled the area on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash and other stolen items.

Following leads, deputies were able to identify Jones.

The victim was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

More arrests are likely, McGee said.
