LAKE CHARLES, LA - Thanksgiving may be over, but in Southwest Louisiana, the holiday season is far from finished. While some were shopping in the big stores for Black Friday others were getting a head start on Christmas.
Many families were up and out this morning trying to get that perfect tree for their homes this Christmas.
"Here in Southwest Louisiana we're steeped in tradition and one of the things that goes on around here is everybody likes to come out and shop for their Christmas trees." said Jay Parker, Manager of Christmas Tree USA in Moss Bluff.
But who makes the decision on the tree? The children or parents?
"Believe it or not children do play a big part in picking the Christmas tree," said Parker. "The Children love to pick the trees with the longest stalks on them because that means more presents underneath the tree."
There are several locations across Southwest Louisiana where you can shop for Christmas Trees: Christmas Trees USA Nelson Road @I-210 in Lake Charles/ Sam Houston Jones Pkwy @ U.S. 171 in Moss Bluff. Greengate Garden Center at 4662 Lake Street http://www.ggate.com/. Stine on 4501 Nelson Road.
