Three-day Lake Charles Film & Music Festival kicks off Friday
LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) - Do you like movies? Music? Then you won't want to miss this weekend's Lake Charles Film & Music Festival, Oct. 7-9, in Lake Charles.
The annual event spotlights the best of independent films and filmmakers through film screenings, movie-related seminars, celebrity appearances, music, food and get-togethers.
The festival kicks off 7 p.m. on Friday with a filmmaker mixer at My Place American Pub, 630 W. Prien Lake Road. Live music will be provided by David Locklear and Renda Ruiz.
Film screenings, seminars and workshops will take place 9 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Saturday at Central School. More than 30 independent films will be screened during the festival. There will be seminars on low-budget filmmaking, and self-distribution, stunts, film production, directing, prop building, and Louisiana film history.
Award-winning director Larry Wade Carrell will host a workshop on making films from script to screen on Saturday.
There will be a festival wrap party Saturday at 9 p.m. at My Place American Pub. New Orleans band Hollyrock will perform.
On Sunday, the "Best of the Fest" screenings will take place from 10 a.m.- 5 p.m. at Tipitinas, 2128 Hodges St.
Tickets for any of these events can be purchased at the door. General admission is $10 but VIP passes for $25 are available.
