Bodies found in burning vehicles in Carencro and Scott

LAFAYETTE PARISH, LA (KPLC) - Two bodies in two burning vehicles were found in the Lafayette area early Tuesday morning, according to information for the Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office.

The bodies were found more than 12 miles apart, in Carencro and in Scott, said Capt. John Babin, public information officer.

First, the Lafayette Sheriff's Office was notified by the Carencro Fire Department that firefighters had found a body in a vehicle. Firefighters were called to the 100 block of Disett Road around 1:15 a.m. After extinguishing the fire, the body was found.

The second vehicle fire was reported to the Scott Fire Department, at approximately 3:30 a.m., in the 400 Block of Old Spanish Trail. Firefighters also found a body in that vehicle.

At this time detectives have not linked the incidents or identified the vehicles or victims. The case is ongoing.
