LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) - The McAlister's Deli location on 635 W. Prien Lake Road in Lake Charles has officially closed.
The restaurant posted a sign on Monday stating they're closing the business effective immediately.
"Thank you for 11 great years. This location has closed for business effective June 20, 2016. Lease/Rent was the deciding factor in making this decision to close," the sign said.
Erin Davidson, a local resident, said she is sad to see the restaurant go.
"It's a sad day in LC. - McAlister's Deli is officially closed. We were just there Saturday! Very sad indeed that the cost of real-estate caused a thriving business to close," she said on her Facebook Page.
Several other residents are expressing their displeasure on Facebook.
"Noooooo!!!! I love this place!!" said Inez Powell.
"It's a shame they didn't just downsize. Especially after 11 years. I just ate there last week," said Debbie McGee Holt.
"Shocked to see this! We were eating there often and there were many times a line to the door. It's a shame they had to close," said LaDonna McKnight.
"Sad. I eat lunch there once a week. I love that place," said Joshua Ortego.
Two locations in Baton Rouge have also closed this year.
