LONGVILLE, LA (KPLC) - A toddler fell from a moving vehicle traveling near Longville Tuesday afternoon, authorities confirmed.
The 1 1/2-year-old boy was transported to a Lake Charles hospital with serious head trauma, said Joe Toler, Beauregard Parish Sheriff's Office spokesman. The child has been transported to a hospital in Lafayette and is expected to recover.
The incident happened around 12:30 p.m.
"Responding deputies have learned that at some point the child was unbuckled from his car seat," Toler said. "It was also learned as the vehicle was making a turn, the child fell out of the rear passenger door onto the pavement."
The Beauregard Sheriff's Office is continuing to investigate.
