LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) - From McNeese Athletics -

Fans can expect a fun-filled experience when the McNeese Cowboys host Incarnate Word on Saturday for not only the season opener, but also the Southland Conference opener.

The game has been designated "Military Appreciation Game" as members of the armed forces will be in attendance with several armored vehicles on display for the fans prior to the game. Those will be located where the old Pine Haven Dorms once stood. An obstacle course will also be set up for fans to experience.

The Cowboy Corral will return this year with various food and drink vendors. This will once again be located in Lot A off McNeese Street.

McNeese is bringing back the "Cowboy Walk" for this game as the Pokes will trot down Blue & Gold Drive from Common Street. Fans are encouraged to start lining the street around 3 p.m. as the Cowboys will begin to make their way down the road at approximately 3:20, en route to the Jack Doland Field House.

The Cowboys will be wearing special white camouflage jerseys for the ball game. Those jerseys are currently on pre-sale to the public for $125. If interested in purchasing, call the ticket office 562-4MSU. Purchases will not be allowed on game day however. Jerseys will be available to be picked up on Monday.

The Para Poke skydiving team will once again soar into Cowboy Stadium during pregame activities. This is scheduled to occur at 5:40 followed by the entrance of the Mystery Rider.

At halftime, McNeese will induct five new members into its sports Hall of Fame. Those being inducted include Michael Cutright, men's basketball; Shannon Foolkes (Browning), volleyball; Verril Young, track and field; Margie Hinton-Randleman, women's basketball and volleyball coach; and Bryan Smith, football.

365 musicians from 43 high schools across Louisiana and Texas as the Ninth Annual All-Star High School Marching Band takes the field for the first home game with the Pride of McNeese Cowboy Marching Band. The two bands will combine to perform an exciting halftime show.

Cowboy fans will also get to experience the brand new LED high-definition video board as well as several cosmetic updates to Cowboy Stadium, including pillar signage to show off some all-time Cowboy Football greats.

Programs will be on sale for $5 this year as lucky fans will have a chance to win some great prizes. Get the program with an autograph from head coach Matt Viator and you'll win a nice McNeese prize pack. Other prizes include free Wendy's value meals and one lucky program owner will win four tickets to the Sept. 26 home game against Mississippi College.

Gates will open at 4:30 with kickoff slated for 6:04. The game will be televised by the American Sports Network (The CW Lake Charles, Suddenlink 7 and DirecTV 30), as well as being picked up by Cox Sports TV (Suddenlink 57). Streaming will also be available at Southland.org/watch and the Southland app.
