LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) - Two Calcasieu Parish men have been accused of stealing thousands of dollars from their employer, authorities said.

Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Kim Myers said Brandon Ronald Archer, 37, and Michael Lee Odom, 39, were arrested in connection with the June 1 burglary of a business on Siebarth Drive in Lake Charles.

"The complainant advised he found the alarm had never been set from the previous day and a safe, with approximately $5,000-6,000, was missing," Myers said in a news release. "Detectives discovered a door at the rear of the business had the handle broken off, but the door was still locked and showed no signs of a forced entry."

Archer and Odom are facing charges of simple burglary, theft $5,000-$25,000 and simple criminal damage to property. Both were released after posting $15,000 bonds.

Myers said detectives found a recorded phone conversation between Archer and Odom and they were talking about the burglary, prior to the incident. Archer was also seen on surveillance cameras, according to Myers.

Myers said additional arrests are possible and the investigation is ongoing.
