BEAUREGARD PARISH, LA (KPLC) - A 15-year-old from Beauregard Parish died Saturday evening in an accidental shooting in DeRidder, authorities said.
Beauregard Parish Sheriff's Office spokesman Joe Toler said the teen died after the shotgun he was carrying accidentally discharged. Toler said no foul play is suspected.
According to family members, the teen has been identified as Cameron Carter, a freshman at East Beauregard High School.
The family said the hunting accident happened around 7 p.m. Saturday.
Services for Carter will be held at Dry Creek Baptist Church, with visitation from 2-9 p.m. on Wednesday and from 9 a.m. until the funeral at 3 p.m. on Thursday. Interment will follow at Shiloh Cemetery in Dry Creek.
A memorial for Cameron has been scheduled for 6 p.m. Friday at the East Beauregard football field. Blue balloons will be released in his memory. On Monday, students and faculty at the school wore blue, Cameron's favorite color, to honor him.
