LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) - A 21-year-old Lake Charles man has been charged in connection with a four-vehicle fatal crash on Interstate 10 Wednesday afternoon that held up traffic for about two hours, state police said.
Jeremy Allen Reynolds was arrested on charges of negligent homicide, reckless operation, driving under suspension and loads on vehicles.
According to a preliminary report, a 1990 GMC pickup driven by Reynolds, was traveling east on Interstate 10 near the PPG Drive exit in Westlake when it ran off the road twice. The second time, Reynolds overcorrected, lost control and crossed the median.
The bed cover on Reynold's truck flew off, causing two other vehicles to collide in an attempt to avoid the object. No one in either of these two vehicles was injured.
Reynold's truck continued across the median and collided head-on with a 2014 Ford, driven by 27-year-old Richard Ravenell of Greenville, South Carolina. Ravenell was pronounced dead at the scene.
Reynolds did not report any injuries.
Bond is pending in the case.
