Victim identified in fatal motorcycle accident

Lake Charles Police have released the name of the victim involved in a fatal motorcycle accident Friday evening on Highway 171. Police said Ryan Taylor Leday, 22, died from his injuries sustained in the accident.
According to police, the accident occurred around 7:30 at the intersection of Highway 171 and Mary Street.
Two motorcycles were traveling southbound on Hwy 171. Police say it’s believed the motorcyclists were traveling at a high rate of speed. A northbound vehicle was attempting to make a left turn westbound on Mary Street. Both motorcycles struck the vehicle causing both riders to be ejected from their bikes.
One cyclist identified as Jarrett R. Matthews, 22, sustained severe injuries. The second cyclist, identified as Leday, struck two other vehicles after being ejected.
Leday died at the scene. The driver of the vehicle making the left sustained minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital for further treatment.
Matthews was transported to Lake Charles Memorial Hospital for further treatment as well.
It is undetermined who is in violation at this time. A total of five vehicles were involved.
