CAMERON PARISH, LA (KPLC) - Southern California Telephone & Energy on Friday announced that it has purchased 232 acres of land on Monkey Island in Cameron Parish with plans to build a multi-billion dollar LNG facility.

The $2.4 billion facility will be located less than three miles from the Gulf of Mexico. Michaels said the facility is expected to process nearly 4 million tonnes of natural gas per year.
SCT&E LNG said that now that the land has been secured, they will begin the application process with federal and state agencies.
