CALCASIEU PARISH, LA (KPLC) - A man serving an 80-year sentence received an amended sentence. According to officials with good time with the Department of Corrections, Mark Anthony Delafosse will serve about 25 years.

Delafosse pleaded guilty in 1998 to manslaughter and armed robbery in the 1996 shooting of 20-year-old Christopher Freeman in a robbery on Dixy Drive in Lake Charles.

Delafosse later sought to withdraw that plea, claiming he did not fully understand the circumstances of it.

Court officials on Wednesday said the reduction of the sentence was agreed upon by the victim's family.
