CALCASIEU PARISH, LA (KPLC) - A Calcasieu Parish man is accused of child pornography possession, according to a news release from Louisiana State Police, Troop D.

Accused in the case is 41-year-old Charles B. Compton. He is charged with pornography involving juveniles and remains in the Calcasieu Correctional Center with bond set at $100,000.

Troopers said on May 13, investigators with the State Police Bureau of Investigations conducted a search warrant at Compton's home in the community of Lebleu Settlement.

Troopers said the search warrant was obtained as the result of an Operation Child Watch investigation into the suspected downloading of child pornography.

The search reportedly resulted in the seizure of a computer and other data devices for examination.

"A subsequent forensic analysis by State Police investigators revealed that child pornography was present on Compton's computer," the release states.

Compton was arrested Wednesday. Troopers said if convicted, he faces up to a $50,000 fine and from five to 25 years in prison without benefit of parole, probation or suspension of sentence.
