Iowa man accused of burglary and theft

The following is a Press Release from the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office:

On May 7, at approximately 10:00 a.m., Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office deputies were dispatched to a business on West Fourth Street in Iowa in reference to a burglary.

When deputies arrived, they discovered the tin on the rear of the building had been pried open and a new washing machine was stolen.

During the investigation, detectives spoke with David J. Cormier, 41, of Iowa.  When questioned, Cormier confirmed to entering the business, stealing the new washing machine and selling it.

Cormier was arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with simple burglary; and theft over $500.

Judge Kent Savoie set his bond at $2,500.
