The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office is asking the public's help in identifying the suspect in an early Friday morning shooting at a Sulphur nightclub. CPSO deputies responded to a nightclub on South Cities Service Highway in Sulphur in reference to a shooting at around 5 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 5, said Sheriff's Office spokesman Cmdr. James McGee.

Authorities are investigating a suspicious package in the Walmart on the Bayou parking lot on U.S. 171 near Moss Bluff Friday evening. CPSO says they have recovered a stolen motor home at the scene. Upon arrival on the scene, investigators said they also discovered a suspicious package.

A lot of kids have fun writing letters to Santa Claus around Christmastime. Those letters usually go unanswered, but not for students at one Lake Charles elementary school. Some of Brentwood Elementary teacher Danica Nicole's Kindergarten and 1st grade students wrote letters to Santa in early December and put them in a "magical mailbox," which they were told went directly to the North Pole.

The Vernon Parish Sheriff's Office has formed an investigative team for cold case homicides in the parish, with its first focus being on a 1980 murder. The Sheriff's Office is seeking the public's help in their investigation of the unsolved homicide of Mary Darlene Howard, 15, whose body was found in a wooded area on West Boundary Road in the Sandy Hill area in Leesville on April 27, 1980, said VPSO Detective Rhonda Jordan.

Blake Tylyn James Poullard, 17, is charged with the second-degree murder of David Reed III, 24, of Sulphur. The Asset Builders of Southwest Louisiana program is expanding to help small business owners.
