First Alert Forecast: Lower humidity and sunshine for the weekend, slight changes heading into next week
Meteorologist Jacob Durham is breaking down a return in humidity and when rain chances could return to SWLA.
LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) - High pressure is staying in place through our Friday and the weekend as sunshine remains abundant with a slight shift in wind direction.
You may want to go ahead and grab the light jacket or coat this morning as lows are back into the upper 40s to lower 50s inland with our middle 50s along the I-10 corridor.
Sunshine will be around for the afternoon as well, which will help to warm temperatures back into the middle 80s once again.
A weak frontal boundary is pushing into the region for Saturday and Sunday, but unfortunately it won’t bring back rain chances.
It will bring a slight drop in humidity and temperatures as we are back into the lower and middle 50s with the lower 80s during the afternoon.
We haven’t seen a lot of clouds so far this week, but a slight increase in humidity Monday into Tuesday will help to bring back a few clouds into early next week.
Our moisture return will be a gradual one though as winds are staying more so out of the east-southeast, but it will change our overnights slightly.
Rain chances will remain low through the first half of next week as we build the foundation for the potential of a weak front into late next week and weekend.
Highs next week are going to remain in the lower 80s for much of next week thanks to the mixture of sun and clouds at times.
Temperatures will climb back into the lower and middle 60s with the increase in moisture values late next week during the morning hours as winds become more southerly.
At this point, the better rain chances look to come closer to next Saturday for Halloween and the Trick-or-Treating.
There is still time for this to change and the timing of the system itself will be important for any of the outdoor plans you have.
It doesn’t look to be a great rain chance or a lot of widespread heavy rain, but any rain at this point is certainly great news as the drier weather continues.
Rain deficits at this point are now nearing or slightly above 16 inches on the year and that number is only going to grow over the next week with the limited rain chances.
As for the tropics, Josephine is now gone as it has been absorbed by a cold front, the other area of interest in the Central Atlantic is now at a 0% chance of development over the next 7 days.
