PIERCE COUNTY, Wash. (KING) — A Washington man has been charged in his 5-year-old son’s death.

Kyler Lawrence was booked on manslaughter charges on Sunday.

In March 2025, Lawrence’s son died from a fentanyl overdose.

Authorities allege Lawrence brought drugs into the home.

“It’s the primary cause of a lot of our deaths, and we sadly are seeing more and more of children,” Pierce County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Carly Cappetto said.

The child’s mother was also arrested and charged two months after the boy’s death.

According to investigators, she said Lawrence supplied her with the drugs.

If convicted, Lawrence could face a possible life sentence along with a fine.
