Boating accident near Contraband Bayou leaves one hospitalized, vessel sunk

LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) - A boating accident on the Calcasieu River near Contraband Bayou sent one person to the hospital on Sunday afternoon.

The Lake Charles Fire Department confirmed that the injured individual is currently in stable condition. Officials have not released further details regarding the identity of the victim or the cause of the accident.

An eyewitness near the scene reported seeing flames shooting 10 to 20 feet into the air. By the time witnesses were able to get close to the scene, the vessel had already sunk.
