LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) - Turning a tidy home into a terrifying one doesn’t have to be expensive.

That’s according to SWLA art teacher Jessica Broussard, who showed us how to make Halloween decorations from things that can easily be found in an everyday kitchen.

“So these are all just household items. Literally, I found everything at the dollar store. That’s the best part. We’ve grabbed a couple different colors of paint your kiddos can choose. And it’s a colored pencil and a little piece of paper. We’re going to make some spider webs with some spiders kind of hanging off the web,” Broussard said.

Broussard’s daughter, Calla, who is only 3 years old, was able to nearly do the project on her own, making the Halloween craft accessible for not just the older kids at home, but also the young ones.

“As you see, she’s just going away. I don’t have to really, yes, monitor her, but I mean, you don’t really have to do it yourself – she can do it,” Broussard said.

From candy corn and spiders to Frankenstein, the crafty decorations are also affordable.

“The beautiful thing about it, you don’t want to spend a lot of money doing stuff, and you want a little fast five-minute thing to do with them just to kind of keep them from being onboard and a little settled before they go get all that Halloween candy,” Broussard said.

Broussard will be moving her art studio from Alamo Street to 2710 Hodges St. after the spooky season.
