Get a head start on a degree in high school with SOWELA’s dual enrollment tour

LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) - Not only can you get a degree or certificate at SOWELA, but students can also earn them alongside their high school diploma. In just one week, students interested in dual enrollment can get more information at the upcoming tour SOWELA is offering. We spoke with Dedria Walton this morning to get the details.

The SOWELA Dual Enrollment Tour will be on Tuesday, July 8, at 10 a.m. at the main campus in Lake Charles.

It is catered to high school students and their families so they can tour various program areas, learn about the benefits of dual enrollment, meet faculty, and register for dual enrollment classes.

The event is open to all public, private, and homeschool high school students and their families.

The tour will also touch on the transferability of courses as many students take general education classes at SOWELA that can then be used as credits for those same classes at a four-year college or university. This allows you to earn an associate’s degree while getting a jump start on a potential bachelor’s degree later.

SOWELA offers over 30 technical and academic programs, including

• Nursing (RN)
• Machine Tool Technology
• Accounting
• Drafting and Design Technology
• Industrial Instrumentation
• Chemical Laboratory Technology
• and much more!
