Suspects in 2018 Lacassine double homicide plead guilty

JEFF DAVIS PARISH, La. (KPLC) - The suspects in a 2018 double homicide case in Lacassine pleaded guilty Monday in Jeff Davis Parish court.

Jordan Alexander Legros, 27, and Javari Guidry, 28, were each indicted on two counts of second-degree murder but reached plea deals to drop their charges to manslaughter.

Legros and Guidry were arrested after Walter Joseph Gotreaux, 72, and Darlene Cecelia Gotreaux, 70, were found dead in their home on the afternoon of Sunday, Dec. 16, 2018.

The case shook Jeff Davis Parish - the couple was well known, and Walter Gotreaux was a past president of the Lake Charles chapter of the Cajun French Music Association.

Guidry pleaded guilty to manslaughter and aggravated burglary. He was sentenced to 30 years on each count to run concurrently. The state agreed not to file a habitual offender bill or a firearm enhancement.

Legros pleaded guilty to manslaughter and obstruction of justice. He was sentenced to 20 years on the count of manslaughter and 35 years on the count of obstruction of justice, to run concurrently.
