LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) - An Arlington, Texas, man was arrested for human trafficking during a traffic stop on I-10 near Iowa, authorities said.

A detective with the Combined Anti-Drug Task Force was patrolling the area on Tuesday, Jan. 30, when he pulled over Kevin D. Ricks, 27, according to Calcasieu Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Kayla Vincent.

“When the deputy attempted to speak with Ricks, he was unable to answer simple questions and showed signs of nervousness,” Vincent said in a news release. “Upon further investigation, it was discovered the passenger in the vehicle was being trafficked by Ricks for sexual purposes”

Ricks was booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center for human trafficking. Vincent said he also had a warrant for a probation violation out of Texas.

Judge Tony Fazzio set bond at $750,000.

Sgt. Rodney Daigle, Jr. is the arresting deputy and Special Victims Unit Det. Kara Adams is the lead investigator.
