CALCASIEU PARISH

  • Camp Smiling F.A.C.E.S. - June 6-8 for children ages 4-12 with disabilities at West Calcasieu Cameron Hospital’s Genesis Therapeutic Riding Center in Sulphur. Activities will include horseback riding, fishing and arts and crafts. Register by May 19. Volunteers also needed.
  • Summer Exploration Adventures - June 5- July 28 City of Lake Charles Recreation and Parks Department ages 5-11. Week 1 Super Heroes, Week 2 Louisiana’s Animal Kingdom, Week 3 Aviation, Week 4 Dinosaur Adventures, Week 5 Exploring the Great Outdoors, Week 6 STEM, Week 7 Performing Arts, Week 8 In Deep Water.   • Branch Out Arts Camp - June and July weekly sessions at the Imperial Calcasieu Museum. Open to K-8th grade. Small classes with personalized attention from certified teachers. Drawing, painting, ceramics, shape and form, papercraft and color theory. 337.439-3797.

  • Almosta Ranch Petting Zoo Camps - June 5-8 and July 3-6 for 4-5 year-olds, offering outdoor activities. Summer farm camp for ages 6-8 and 9 years and up where kids can learn animal care and more, held weekly in June and July. Horse camp for ages 6 and up, held throughout June and July, includes grooming and tacking, arena and trail riding, and more.
  • Stark Museum of Art Summer Art Camps - Free camps for kids of all ages in Orange, Texas! Preschoolers can explore various materials July 25-28, 1st-2nd graders can enjoy The Great Artdoors June 20-23, 3rd-4th graders can boogie back to That 70′s Art Camp June 27-30 and 5th-6th graders can Deconstruct This Camp July 11-14.
  • Will Wade Basketball Camp - Two sessions offered for students grades K-9, $200 per camper. McNeese coaching staff led by head coach Will Wade providing instruction in all aspects of basketball. Session 1 held June 12-15, and session 2 held June 26-29. Contact nflory@mcneese.edu.
  • Lynn Kennedy Game Zone - Session 1 June 10, Session 2 June 24 for ages 5-12. Join McNeese student athletes and coaches for a day filled with games and scavenger hunts!
  • Lynn Kennedy Kid’s Camp - Session 1 June 5-8, Session 2 June 19-22 for ages K-5th grade. Includes lunch, camp shirt, and personal basketball training.
  • Lynn Kennedy 6-8th Grade Clinic - Session 1 June 5-8, Session 2 June 19-22. Includes camp shirt, personal instruction, and elite level basketball skillwork.
  • Ward 3 and Overtime Athletics Sports Camps - Boys’ basketball camp, June 5-9; football camp, June 19-23; tennis camp, July 5-7; soccer camp, July 10-14; tennis camp, July 17-20; tennis camp, July 24-28. For ages 5 through 12, from 8-10 a.m. Cost $25.
  • Pathways Christian School Camp - Six camps for kids who love to create and explore God’s world. HERP camp June 12-16; Game on! camp June 19-23; Theater camp June 26-30; Ancient civilizations July 10-14; Creepy Crawlies July 17-21; Art camp July 24-28. $150 a week, for K-7th grade.
  • City of Lake Charles Free Robotics Camp - Series of one-week robotics camps designed to increase student confidence, interest and proficiency in science and math. Free to attend, with limited space. Students must meet certain eligibility requirements to be considered. Session 1 held June 26-30; Session 2 held July 3-7; Session 3 held July 10-14.
  • The Children’s Theatre Company’s Summer Theatre Camps - Introduce newcomers to the world of theatre and challenge young performing veterans to perfect advanced theatrical concepts and production techniques. Extreme Theatre for ages 8-18 June 12-16; WILD THINGS! for ages 5-8 July 10-12; KIDZ IN SHOWBIZ! for ages 5-18 July 24-28.
  • Camp Fury - For girls in grades 9-12 who have a desire to become police, firefighters, or EMS. Camp staff is made up of female officers and firefighters from our area. Girls will get to firefight, repel, learn self defense, weapons, forensics, search and rescue, K9, CPR and much more. July 16-21 at Sam Houston Jones Park. Last day to register is June 18.
