Lake Charles, LA (KPLC) - The Lake Charles Police Department is investigating a homicide that occurred in the morning hours of November 12.

Lake Charles police responded to an emergency assist call around 7:20 Saturday morning at the 2900 block of 7th street.

Police say upon arrival and initial investigation they learned a homicide occurred, and the unfortunate news has neighbors feeling unsettled.

“They’re quiet you know, like I said I’ve never seen anybody but them going and coming and I said that’s a black and white couple, and that was it you know I’m very surprised that on this street something happened,” Corine Pete said.

Pete said she didn’t hear anything coming from the neighbors home in the early morning hours.

“I woke up at 1 o’clock this morning, God told me to pray and I went on my knees to pray and I didn’t hear anything and I went back to bed,” Pete said.

Pete and her fiancé believe the couple live alone but her fiancé said he saw kids come out of the house this morning when police arrived.

“I’ve never seen kids, just two people but it looked like kids were coming out of there this morning, a whole other family,” Pete’s fiancé said.

The cause of death and the name of the homicide victim has yet to be released.

Anyone with information that can help the investigation is encouraged to contact the Lake Charles Police Department at 337.491.1311.
