Mill official: ‘Heavy smolder’ in baghouse at DeQuincy lumber mill quickly handled

DeQuincy, LA (KPLC) - A “small fire” at Interfor’s lumber mill in DeQuincy was quickly brought under control, mill officials said.

There were no visible flames from the “heavy smolder” in a baghouse at the mill, according to Mill Manager Marty Rector.

No injuries were reported.

The fire was handled by a crew at the mill, although the fire department did arrive on scene, he said.

There were no “major issues,” Rector said.
