Lake Charles, LA (KPLC) - Three people are dead and one is hospitalized after two early morning shootings in Lake Charles, police say.

Two males were killed in a shooting before 1 a.m. Friday in the 500 block of West Lagrange Street, said Deputy Chief Franklin Fondel of LCPD.

In an unrelated incident, two males were shot after 4 a.m. in the 1000 block of McCall Street, Fondel said. Both were transported to local hospitals for treatment.

Steven Sturlese, 30, of Lake Charles was pronounced dead at the hospital at 5:17 a.m., Fondel said.

The other victim was airlifted to New Orleans for further treatment and remains in critical condition, Fondel said.

One suspect in the McCall Street shooting is in custody and being questioned, Fondel said. Both investigations are ongoing.

“These investigations are still in the very early stages so details are limited. At this time we are able to confirm that these are two separate, unrelated incidents,” said Fondel. “We reassure the community that LCPD is working to uncover what led to these crimes and will produce the type of investigation that will help ensure those responsible are held accountable.”

Anyone with information about these incidents is asked to contact detectives at 337-491-1311.
