NEW ORLEANS- McNeese tied the game in the seventh inning but ultimately fell, dropping the series finale to New Orleans 11-9 at Maestri Field.

The Cowboys built a 7-0 lead heading into the bottom of the third, scoring one run in the first and six in the third.

Braden Duhon led off the game with a single and Brad Burckel’s base hit to right drove him home.

In the third, an inning set up by back-to-back singles by Duhon and Payton Harden was capitalized by Kade Hunter’s two-run double, Julian Gonzales’ bases-loaded walk, and Josh Leslie’s RBI single.

The Privateers took the lead in the fourth inning scoring eight runs - six unearned. Andrew Guidry doubled in two runs. A pop fly by Kasten Furr was dropped in shallow right, allowing two more runs to score.

Leslie homered in the top of the seventh to knot the game at seven. The Cowboys took a 9-8 lead when Duhon tripled to start the eighth and scored on Harden’s sac-fly.

Three more runs in the eighth against the Cowboy bullpen put UNO back on top to stay.

Duhon, Harden, and Leslie combined for eight hits, four RBI, and five runs. Duhon set a career-high with four hits, all to lead off an inning.

UNO reliever Caleb Seroki (3-1) earned the win pitching four innings in relief, he allowed two runs on three hits.

The Cowboys fall to (16-16, 3-6). UNO improves to (19-10, 6-3).
