LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) - Across the state of Louisiana, especially in Southwest Louisiana, blood supply numbers are at an all-time low.
The Southwest Louisiana Center for Health Services has partnered with LifeShare Blood Center to host a blood drive today only from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m..
There will be a LifeShare bus parked in front of Southwest Louisiana Center for Health Services located at 2000 Opelousas Street.
Outreach Coordinator Nasheika Malbreaux says it’s imperative that people understand that there is a national blood supply shortage right now and she is hoping to have a good turnout today.
“With COVID-19, there’s been a blood shortage and just one person donating can save up to three lives so we’re looking out to help the best way we can so we hope this blood drive is a step in the right direction.”
No appointment is necessary to attend the blood drive and any interested parties are encouraged to attend.
