Sowela receives technology scholarship donation from Northrop Grumman
LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) - Sowela has announced that they have received a donation from Northrop Grumman to help fund scholarships for students enrolled in their aviation maintenance, process technology, industrial instrumentation, industrial electrician, and machine tool programs.
All of these scholarships will be offered in the Spring, Summer, and Fall 2021 semesters.
“The great success Sowela has experienced in the last several years is due in part to the great partnerships the College has created with the business and industries in the area. Northrop Grumman is a perfect example of how higher education and industry can work together to create training programs that build the workforce needed to strengthen the regional economy,” said Sowela Chancellor Dr. Neil Aspinwall. “Northrop Grumman’s financial investment in Sowela helps the College provide the resources our faculty, staff, and students need to keep our instructional programs viable and operational during a time when the region has suffered devastating storm damage while dealing with the challenges of the pandemic.”
Sowela will be accepting and managing applicants for the scholarships through the Free Application fro Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Their office will review undergraduate applicants that have completed at least one semester, maintain a GPA of at least 2.5, and qualify for financial assistance.
Students who wish to apply for a scholarship must do so by the April 1, 2021 priority deadline at www.sowela.edu/scholarships.
