LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) - The Louisiana Department of Transporation and Development (DOTD) has announced that beginning Monday, Feb. 15, 2021, all ferry passengers will be required to wear a mask or face covering while boarding and using a ferry.

Passengers that remain in their vehicles with the windows raised are exempt from this requirement.

The new mandate is in accordance with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) requirement issued on January 29, 2021, which advises residents to wear masks while on conveyances and at transportation hubs in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19. The CDC order can be read here.
