SULPHUR, La. (KPLC) - The Sulphur Police Department has issued a statement regarding the investigation of the Sulphur High student that was struck at a bus stop on Friday morning.
Statement from Sulphur PD:
The Sulphur Police Department is still investigating the crash which occurred on West Burton Street involving the Sulphur High School student who was struck at the school bus stop. Two complaints directed to the police department include the student wearing dark colored clothes and the driver being released from the scene on a citation.
The color of the pedestrians clothing is not the contributing cause of the crash. Her clothing description along with the drivers violation will be listed on the crash report. We apologize for any statements regarding the victims dark clothes might have created.
The crash investigation is still ongoing. We are awaiting the return of the toxicology results to ensure the driver was not driving impaired.Once the investigation is complete, it will be turned over to the Calcasieu Parish District Attorney’s Office for further review.
