LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) - Carol Coward was one of the first people to get the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine today at Bourdeaux’s New Drug Store.
“It takes a lot of stress off, and I’m happy to be here,” she said. “I had the shot and it didn’t hurt, so I’m really happy about it.”
Pharmacists at Boudreaux’s New Drug Store had an eventful morning on Wednesday as they prepared to distribute the newly received 150 doses of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine.
“We’re excited to be able to be one of the first independent pharmacies here in Calcasieu Parish and to be able to provide this for the community,” said Stacy Teer, a pharmacist at Boudreaux’s New Drug Store.
As of Wednesday, more than 600 residents have already registered with Boudreaux’s New Drug Store to be vaccinated.
Jesse Vidrine, the owner of Boudreaux’s New Drug Store, says getting the vaccine to medical personnel and the elderly is their priority.
“As of right now, we are still following that protocol that the Louisiana Department of Health has set forward, which is 70 plus years of age as well as the healthcare workers,” Vidrine said.
If you don’t feel comfortable or are unable to come inside the store to get your vaccine, Boudreaux’s New Drug Store is offering curbside vaccinations.
