Calcasieu Parish Police Jury elects new president, vice president for 2021

LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) - The Calcasieu Parish Police Jury has elected its 2021 president and vice president.
Brian Abshire is president and Guy Brame is vice president.
Abshire, who served as vice president in 2020, succeeds District 4 Police Juror Tony Guillory.
Abshire is serving his second term representing District 5. He was elected in 2017, without opposition, to replace Lake Charles Mayor Nic Hunter.
Abshire is a Commercial Banking Manager for IBERIABANK and is active in many civic and volunteer organizations. He is a father to three and is a member of St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church.
“Thank you for your confidence in me,” Abshire said. “I look forward to working with every one of you over what I hope will be a much less eventful year.”
Including this appointment, Brame has served as vice president three times. He previously held the role in 2009 and 2017.
In 2005, Brame was elected for his fifth term representing District 8. He served as Police Jury President in 2011.
Brame is co-owner of Brame Brothers Power Equipment and Rental and is also the owner of General Lawn, LLC. He’s an active member of Trinity Baptist Church and Delta Waterfowl. He and his wife have four children and six grandchildren.
