LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) - Calcasieu Parish’s two Residential Solid Waste Convenience Centers will begin allowing trailers onsite starting Jan 7.

They are located at 2915 Post Oak Road in Sulphur and 5500 B Swift Plant Road in Lake Charles.

Both of these sites are still not accepting any hurricane debris. They will only accept household waste and items for recycling until further notice.

Only Calcasieu Parish residents are able to use the centers. They must stop at the attendant’s booth and have their driver’s licenses scanned to verify residency.

The following restrictions will continue to be enforced:

  • No construction/demolition debris: This includes lumber, sheetrock, insulation, roofing material, siding, white goods and related items.
  • No vegetation: Trees, tree limbs, stumps, plants, landscaping waste.

Calcasieu Parish’s debris contractor will continue to collect hurricane debris for several weeks. All residents’ waste will be inspected before they are allowed entry into the sites.

Both sites are open from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Thursday – Monday.
